Of the bronies who hate G3, the ones who claim to legitimately hate it (rather than hating it as a joke) say it's a legitimately bad show because it's girly and childish. Well guess what, that's because it was MADE for little girls.
They say it's bad in comparison to Friendship is Magic. If G3's goal was to gain a massive adult fandom and cater to a mostly teen audience like FiM does, then yes, it would be a terrible show. But it's not. G3 was a show who's target audience was young girls. If you're going to judge its quality, put it at the same level as other girls' shows aimed at the same age group. I can guarantee you that most of them will be FAR worse in regards to "girlyness", "blandness", and "no conflict".
PS: Girlyness is not a bad thing.

I'd say the difference is that G3 is (more of) a "Kid's show" whereas FIM is (more of) a "Family Show"- or at least kid's show with a large amount of intentional family appeal. With that said, I do think that, as a "pure Kid's Show", G3 isn't terrible. It has some nice animation, memorable, unique characters and storylines that work within the confines of its world. It's just that G4 overshadowed every previous generation that people have their expectations for earlier gens skewed.
